Life with chronic illness can be unpredictable, and sometimes the bad days seem to come out of nowhere. I used to get so frustrated with myself for having bad days, but over time I’ve learned to soften. I’ve become more gentle with myself, caring for myself with love and respect. I’ve learned to use my yoga practice to support my body on the bad days so that I can recover and get back to doing the things I love. I’ve learned that I am worthy of love and care just as much on the bad days as the good. And so are you! This yoga class bundle will give you tools to care for yourself on the bad days so that you can tap into your innate ability to heal mind, body and spirit.

COUCH YOGA
This practice uses the support of your couch to relieve tension in the body with minimal effort so that you can feel refreshed and relaxed. A bolster or a couple of stacked pillows may make this practice more comfortable.

SUPINE PRACTICE
On days when you might be too tired to get out of bed or even to lift your head, you can use this practice to relieve tension and stiffness. This entire practice is done lying down on your back. No props required. May be done in bed if desired.

YOGA NAP
Ever feel exhausted but unable to sleep? That’s where this restorative practice comes in. It allows the body to release into a deep relaxation state so that the body can heal even when you can’t sleep. You will need a bolster or a stack of pillows, a yoga block or a thick book, and a couple extra pillows. May be done in bed if desired.


SOOOO….WHAT’S A SPOONIE?
“Spoonie” is an affectionate nickname for people living with chronic illness. It is based on the Spoon Theory which was written by Christine Miserandino to explain how people living with chronic illness must carefully budget their energy in order to get through the day. I call my style of yoga Spoonie Yoga because these are gentle practices that are appropriate for Spoonies.
